BMW B58 oil filter housing leaks are a common issue technicians encounter as these engines age. The factory housing is plastic, and over time, repeated heat cycles, oil pressure, installation stress, and material degradation can cause it to warp or crack. What may start as a light seep or drip near the back of the engine can escalate into a much larger repair if the problem is not addressed. Replacing the failed housing with another plastic unit may stop the immediate leak, but it does not address the material weakness that contributed to the failure in the first place. In Episode 162, we take a closer look at why B58 oil filter housings fail and what technicians should consider when making the repair. We also feature Rein Automotive’s full aluminum oil filter housing, designed as a direct replacement for the original plastic unit. The aluminum construction better withstands repeated heat cycles and pressure without the deformation and cracking associated with the original plastic housing. The assembly also includes the oil cooler, new gaskets, an OEM filter, and required hardware, helping technicians avoid sourcing individual components and reducing the chance of missing something during installation.Watch now to learn more about what causes BMW B58 oil filter housing failures, how these leaks can develop, and how Rein's upgraded aluminum design can help provide a more durable repair.CRP Part No. HEU0116🌐 Visit Our Website: For more information about our high-quality automotive replacement parts and fluids, visit our official website at https://crpautomotive.com/🔍 Search Our Parts: Find detailed parts and application information in our Online Catalog at https://showmetheparts.com/crp/👥 Join the CRP Jumpstart Team: Get early access to giveaways, product announcements, and exclusive content. Why BMW B58 Oil Filter Housings Fail | ITB 162
For professional technicians, oil selection is about choosing a lubricant that supports engine control systems, emission strategies, and long-term reliability.Watch the full episode 161 on our channel.#Shorts #Pentosin #EngineOil #MotorOil #VVT
Engine Oil Does More Than Prevent Wear
Beyond VVT operation, Pentosin motor oils are formulated to minimize deposits, resist aeration, protect under high loads, and support fuel economy. Many formulations are also designed to help prevent low-speed pre-ignition in today’s downsized turbocharged engines.Watch the full episode 161 on our channel.#Shorts #Pentosin #EngineOil #MotorOil #VVT
Modern Turbo Engines Need the Right Oil
In modern VVT-equipped engines, the correct oil viscosity helps cam phasers and oil control valves operate as designed.Watch the full episode 161 on our channel.#Shorts #Pentosin #EngineOil #MotorOil #VVT #autorepair #automaintenance
VVT Acting Up? Check the Oil Spec.
Pentosin motor oils are engineered as OE-approved lubricants for many European and Asian manufacturers, with approvals that validate viscosity, additive package, and performance characteristics.Watch the full episode 161 on our channel.#Shorts #Pentosin #EngineOil #MotorOil #VVT
OE-approved oil is tested to spec.
Modern VVT systems are highly sensitive to oil viscosity. If the viscosity is not what the system was designed for, oil flow through the control valves can become delayed or inconsistent.Watch the full episode 161 on our channel.
Not Every Oil Meets Your Engine’s Spec
VVT systems rely on engine oil to control cam phasers and actuators through oil control valves. When VVT-related fault codes appear, oil condition and correct specification should be part of the diagnostic check.Watch the full episode 161 on our channel.
VVT code? Check the oil first.
Variable valve timing, or VVT, is standard across modern engines. These systems help improve performance, efficiency, and emissions control by adjusting valve operation across the engine speed range. But VVT does not operate mechanically alone. It relies on engine oil as a hydraulic fluid to control cam phasers and actuators through oil control valves. That means oil condition, viscosity, and OE specification all play an important role in how the system responds. In this episode of Inside the Brands, we explain how engine oil supports VVT operation, why the correct oil specification matters, and how Pentosin motor oils are engineered to meet OE requirements for many European and Asian manufacturers.Watch Episode 161 to learn more about engine oil’s role in modern VVT systems. For more information about Pentosin motor oils, visit our website: https://crpautomotive.com/brands/pentosin/motor-oil/Products shown: Pentosin High Performance II 5W-40: P/N 8042107 (1L), 8042206 (5L) Pentosin Super Performance III 5W-30: P/N 8042107 (1L), 8042206 (5L) Pentosin High Performance II+ 5W-30: P/N 8044218 (1L), 8044220 (5L) Pentospeed FE 0W-20: P/N 8044317 (1L), 8044319 (5L) Pentospeed Dexos1 Gen3 0W-20: P/N 8044210 (1L), 8044212 (5L) Pentospeed Dexos1 Gen3 5W-30: P/N 8044214 (1L), 8044216 (5L)🌐 Visit Our Website: For more information about our high-quality automotive replacement parts and fluids, visit our official website at https://crpautomotive.com/🔍 Search Our Parts: Find detailed parts and application information in our Online Catalog at https://showmetheparts.com/crp/👥 Join the CRP Jumpstart Team: Get early access to giveaways, product announcements, and exclusive content. Engine Oil’s Role in Variable Valve Timing | ITB 161
BMW B58 coolant leaks behind the intake often trace back to a failing coolant hose connector in the turbocharger cooling system. A cracked plastic fitting can quickly turn into hours of labor when OE procedures require replacing the entire hose assembly. On B58 engines used in BMW vehicles since 2016, the coolant hose connector behind the heat management module consistently fails. Repeated heat cycles and hydrolysis break down the plastic at the polymer level, causing it to become brittle and crack over time. This connector feeds the turbocharger cooling circuit. When it leaks, it can draw air into the system, reducing cooling efficiency and increasing the risk of overheating or related issues.Access is the problem. The OE hose assembly runs under the intake and around the turbocharger, so replacing it often requires major disassembly to address what started as a failed connector.A more targeted repair replaces only the connector section. This approach addresses the failure point directly and avoids removing major components, helping reduce unnecessary teardown and labor time. The Rein turbo coolant hose solution (P/N CHT0964B) features a durable quick-connect fitting and a pre-opened clamp to streamline installation.Watch the video to see where this failure occurs and how a connector-focused repair can reduce unnecessary labor.🌐 Visit Our Website: For more information about our high-quality automotive replacement parts and fluids, visit our official website at https://crpautomotive.com/🔍 Search Our Parts: Find detailed parts and application information in our Online Catalog at https://showmetheparts.com/crp/👥 Join the CRP Jumpstart Team: Get early access to giveaways, product announcements, and exclusive content. Modern steering, suspension, and stability systems rely on highly engineered hydraulic fluids to operate correctly. In many applications, what’s commonly referred to as power steering fluid is actually a specialized central hydraulic fluid like Pentosin CHF 11S.Pentosin CHF 11S is a synthetic, high-performance hydraulic fluid engineered for lifetime use in demanding automotive systems. Designed to maintain stable performance from cold starts at -40°C to high operating temperatures exceeding 130°C, it delivers consistent hydraulic response under extreme conditions. In this episode of Inside the Brands, we explain: • What central hydraulic fluid is • Why viscosity index and thermal stability matter • Where CHF 11S is commonly specified • Why using the correct OE-approved fluid prevents costly system damageCHF 11S is widely specified for modern power steering systems, hydro-pneumatic suspension, level control, and stability systems. It is commonly used in Mercedes-Benz ABC suspension systems and power steering applications in many Volkswagen, Audi, BMW, and Volvo vehicles.Whether you refer to it as power steering fluid or central hydraulic fluid, using the correct OE-approved product is critical to system performance, durability, and avoiding repeat repairs.🌐 Visit Our Website: For more information about our high-quality automotive replacement parts and fluids, visit our official website at https://crpautomotive.com/🔍 Search Our Parts: Find detailed parts and application information in our Online Catalog at https://showmetheparts.com/crp/👥 Join the CRP Jumpstart Team: Get early access to giveaways, product announcements, and exclusive content.
