• EPS Advisory for Ford, Chevy, RAM Pickup Trucks | ITB Episode 136

Attention truck enthusiasts! If you’re planning to modify your full-size pickup truck with EPS-equipped power steering, you need to watch this video!

In this episode, Joe Hanson from #CRPAutomotive provides crucial advice for EPS-equipped full-size pickup trucks. Electric power steering (#EPS) units are becoming increasingly popular on pickup #trucks, including Ford F150 from 2011 onwards, Chevrolet Silverado from 2014 onwards, and Ram 1500 from 2013 onwards.

However, it is important to note that stock EPS units are not designed to be used on trucks with modified suspensions or non-standard wheels and tires. If you’re planning to modify your pickup truck, here are some essential reasons why you should avoid modifying EPS-equipped trucks:

EPS systems have many sensors, including torque, steering angle, and temperature sensors, that may not function correctly in modified vehicles.

Certain suspension modifications can put more stress on the EPS motor, requiring higher amperage, producing more heat, and leading to premature failure.

Some lift or leveling kits come with installation instructions advising to reduce the length of the tie rods by cutting them, which is not recommended by the OE manufacturer.

Here are some relevant part numbers: ER1000, ER4111, ER5101
