In this episode of Inside the Brands, CRP’s David Hirschhorn discusses a “better than OE” replacement part from CRP Automotive. Namely the Rein Automotive quick connector cooling hoses for BMWs.
While Rein has been offering metal-flanged quick connectors for a while now, it’s started to pre-mount the anodized aluminum connectors to the hose.
Depending on the vehicle, the type of service being performed, and the age or condition of the hose, you can choose the approach you want to take.
– If the hose only has 40,000-50,000 miles and is in good condition other than the connector, it makes sense to reuse the existing hose with the new anodized aluminum connector.
– If the hose is original to the vehicle and visibly degrading, it’s a good idea to change the entire assembly.
It’s important to note that these hose assemblies are NOT available from the dealer. They’re still using the plastic connectors, which are less durable. CRP now carries three versions available for different engine chassis configurations:
CHU0457
CHU0465
CHU0484
