Experiencing problems with your Mercedes-Benz Active Body Control (ABC) system can lead to repairs costing over $7,000. The good news? Regular maintenance can prevent these expensive issues.

Thanks to CRP Innovation Council member Evan Brodof of Evan’s Auto Care in Cincinnati, who wanted us to speak to in this week’s Inside the Brands video.

The ABC system enhances stability and performance but has vulnerabilities. Dirt and grime can build up in the valve block, damaging O-rings and contaminating the hydraulic fluid. This contamination affects both the suspension and steering systems, leading to costly failures.

To help your customers avoid taking a one-time hit like that, Evan and other Independent Mercedes specialists recommend servicing the ABC system every 40,000 miles, which includes a fluid flush and replacement.

We recommend using the Mercedes OE Pentosin CHF 11S hydraulic fluid when you do this service. This synthetic hydraulic fluid is designed to work in a wide range of operating temperatures. Now, keep in mind that the Mercedes ABC system uses about 10 liters of CHF11S but it outweighs the cost of major repair by a long shot.
