In this episode of Inside the Brands, CRP Automotive’s David Hirschhorn shares a quick tip that might just save you a lot of time and money.
The tip relates to EPS racks in GM compact SUVs/crossovers like the Equinox and Terrain.
Here’s the tip:
After you install a replacement rack, you have to perform an alignment and do the required programming immediately.
As with all EPS racks, it’s critical to perform an alignment and follow the manufacturer’s programing procedures to complete the installation.
But on GM vehicles it’s even more critical to do it ASAP. Here’s why: an unprogrammed rack will not throw any error codes for a set amount of time, but after that time, if it’s not programmed, a steering warning light will come on, and the vehicle may not start. On most vehicles, the rack can be reprogramed, but we’ve heard that with the Equinox and Terrain, the rack may need to be replaced.
Rack shown is CRP Part No. ER1011
