In this episode of Inside the Brands, CRP Automotive’s David Hirschhorn provides some guidance on power steering fluid and pumps for late-model Chrysler products like the 300, as well as the Dodge Durango and Jeep Grand Cherokee.
The steering systems in these vehicles are electro-hydraulic hybrids, meaning they use an electric pump to power the steering system rather than a belt driven pump. But like traditional hydraulic systems, these EHPS pumps require fluid to operate — and it’s important to use only the proper fluid.
The correct hydraulic fluid spec for these Chrysler vehicles is MS11655. To ensure a long problem-free life for the power steering system, it is important to use a fluid that meets this spec.
Both Pentosin CHF11S and EHF hydraulic fluids meet the spec and can be used in any vehicle that calls for it.

Another important thing to keep in mind is that the EHPS pumps in these vehicles are NOT serviceable and Chrysler advises that they be replaced as an entire unit — including the bracket. Thanks to CRP’s connections with OE manufacturers, we now offers 5 of these pumps under the AAE brand.
